  1. Statesman Important Safty Alert

    We have become aware that some Statesman gas hobs may be fitted with a connector that is at risk of failing in certain circumstances whether the hob is in use or not. Should this occur, this could lead to a gas leak or fire.

    How do I know if I have an affected model?

    The model number can be found either on the rating label under the hob (as shown in the image above) or on the instruction manual. Should neither be readily accessible, or you have concerns you might have an affected model, then please follow the instructions below to register for a free inspection by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

    What should I do next?

    If you have an affected gas hob or you cannot locate your model number, it’s important that you contact us straight away to arrange for a free inspection and repair by a Gas Safe registered engineer.     If you are using an affected appliance with Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) in a caravan or motorhome, please disconnect it from the LPG cylinder immediately.

    Anchor Bolts

    The anchor bolts, or transit bolts, are used to secure the drum in place whilst the washing machine is transported. These are incredibly useful to keep, just in case you move house in the future.

    Anti-Crease

    The anti-crease phase of a washing cycle will rotate the drum periodically to help prevent creases from forming in the damp clothes. You will be able to open the door to the washing machine any time during this anti-crease cycle to remove the clothes.

    Aperture

    This is a term used to describe the opening in the drum, so for example, you can have a wide aperture which makes it easy to load large items such as bed sheets and duvets into the drum.

    Automatic Dosing

    Some washing machines will feature an automatic dosing unit. This will work out how much detergent is needed to wash your clothes and then add it in automatically.

    Baby Care

    Some washing machines will have a baby care program, which is very intensive and followed by several rinses to try and remove as much detergent from the clothes as possible, to be soft on children’s skin.

    The program for washing larger items such as bed sheets and duvets.

    1. Don’t over buy food plan your meals ahead so you buy just what you need try online shopping as opposed to going to the shops as that smell and look of doughnuts can be just too tempting

    2. check the use by dates on your fresh items rather than the best before dates

    3. Freeze leftovers or have for lunch the next day rather than just throwing them out, that extra portion of pasta can be quite nice cold the next day.

    Whirlpool washing machine danger revealed as recall launched

    As you may have seen in the press recently Whirlpool is launching a product recall to address a potential fire safety risk concerning certain models in the Hotpoint and Indesit range.

    About the Recall

    Following vigorous testing and analysis has now identified a potential fire safety risk with the door lock systems on certain models of washing machines manufactured under the Hotpoint and Indesit brands between October 2014 and February 2018.

    It is stressed that this is a rare occurrence but as such Whirlpool will start to be offering resolutions to customers from as early January.
